Jewelry Care

Everything we make is designed to be worn, not stored away. A little care keeps it looking new for years.

14K Gold Filled

Gold-filled is not plating. A thick layer of solid 14K gold is bonded under pressure to a brass core — many times thicker than standard gold plating — so it resists fading and tarnishing through years of everyday wear.

Diagram comparing gold-filled and gold-plated jewelry: gold-filled has a substantially thicker karat gold overlay bonded to a base metal core, while gold plated has only a thin outer layer.

It handles occasional contact with water without trouble. To keep the shine at its best, take pieces off before showering, swimming, or going into hot springs, so the gold layer stays beautiful for longer.

Rhodium

Rhodium is a member of the platinum family, used for its bright white finish and its resistance to tarnish. It is harder than silver and won't oxidise the way sterling does, so it keeps its brightness with very little effort.

Keep it away from chlorine and harsh household cleaners, which dull the finish over time.

Everyday habits that help

  • Last on, first off. Put jewelry on after perfume, sunscreen and hairspray, and take it off before you wash or sleep.
  • Wipe it down. A soft dry cloth after wearing removes the oils and residue that dull a finish.
  • Store it dry and separate. A pouch or a lined box stops pieces scratching one another. Humidity is the enemy.
  • Skip the dips. Silver-cleaning liquids and ultrasonic cleaners are too aggressive for gold-filled and rhodium finishes.
